We Know What Cardiff Bedrooms Are Like
Most of the wardrobes we fit in Cardiff go into Victorian and Edwardian terraces, and those houses have a particular set of problems. A chimney breast in the middle of the wall with an alcove either side. A bay window eating the only long wall. A box room over the stairs that is barely wide enough for a bed. Ceilings high enough that a shop-bought wardrobe leaves two feet of nothing above it.
None of that is a problem for a run built to the room. The alcoves either side of a chimney breast are usually where we find the most storage, and the height that a freestanding wardrobe wastes becomes the place your suitcases live.
The newer parts of the city are a different job again. Flats around the Bay and the houses out towards Pontprennau and St Mellons tend to have square rooms and lower ceilings, so the run is more straightforward but the space is tighter. That is usually where mirror doors earn their money, because they make a small square bedroom feel considerably bigger.

Yes, and in Cardiff terraces we do it most weeks. The alcoves either side of a chimney breast are usually where the best storage ends up.
Bay-fronted bedrooms are common across Canton, Roath and Penylan. The run usually goes on the wall opposite or into the alcoves, and we work it out at the design visit.
Not in a house of that age, no. Our fitters adjust on the day so the doors run properly and the run sits level.
Box rooms over the stairs are exactly where sliding doors earn their place, because a hinged door has nowhere to open. Mirror doors on a box room make a real difference to how big it feels.
