Built for Valleys Houses
Merthyr is a straight run up the A470 from the workshop, and the houses at that end of the valley are the ones we have been building for longest. Terraces stepped into the hillside, rooms a bit narrower than you would find in the city, and ceilings that are generous for the age of the house.
The chimney breast is the thing that decides most jobs up here. One alcove is usually usable and the other is behind the door or up against a window, so the run goes on the wall it fits rather than the wall a catalogue assumes. That is the advantage of building each one to the room.
To confirmHouses on a slope bring their own problems. Floors that fall away across the room, walls that have moved with the ground over a century, and skirting that has not been level since it went on. It does not stop a fitted run going in. It just means measuring properly and scribing on the day, which is what our fitters do anyway.Then there is the newer stock out at Gurnos, Dowlais Top and the estates around Trefechan, where the rooms are square and the ceilings lower. Different job, same answer. A floor to ceiling run with mirror doors, and a small square bedroom stops feeling like one.

The workshop is at Cilfynydd, on the Albion Industrial Estate just outside Pontypridd, about twenty five minutes down the valley from Merthyr.

Our own fitter, not a subcontractor
Fitting day is one of our own team, not somebody handed your address that morning. If something needs adjusting we come back ourselves.
